E F T TAPPING

 

What is EFT?  Emotional freedom technique is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional stress.  It is also referred to as tapping, or psychological acupressure.

 

Around 1980, Dr. Roger Callahan, a psychologist, was working with a woman who was terrified of the water.  She had nightmares and all types of other issues and could only bath in an inch or two.  While working with her she had mentioned that a knot in her stomach was one of the things that she associated with it.  At the time Roger had been learning about acupuncture and acupressure and that it was believed that there is a certain flow of energy that goes through the body and if it is interrupted it can cause problems.  Roger had learned that one of the end points for the stomach was under the eye.  So he tapped under her eye and when he did this it immediately took away her fear of the water.

 

After this Roger began to teach about this and one of his students was Gary Craig,  Gary was very interested in this and created a system that would make it more universal.  There are nine meridian points that could block the flow of energy so Gary thought, why not tap all of them,  It couldn’t hurt and might work to clear them.  And it did work, a lot of the time to clear anxiety and negativity.  These are the five steps to take to do this and they are:

 

1     -     Identify the issue:  Simply identify the issue or fear

 

2     -     Test the initial intensity:  Rate the level of intensity on a scale from 0 - 10

 

3     -     The setup:  Establish a phrase that explains what you are working on.  This phrase must include the issue you are working on and accepting yourself despite having the issue.

 

4     -     EFT  tapping sequence:  The EFT tapping sequence is the methodic tapping on the ends of the nine meridian points.  You will be tapping on the nine points while reciting the phrases that you have established.  Do this sequence two or three times.

 

5     -     Test the final intensity:  Now test from 0 - 10 again on the intensity of the issue and if it is still there keep repeating this until you get to 0.
